UNFOLDING OF THE FREE DOLPHINS' FLAG

In the center there is the flag sent by the famous argentine humorist Roberto Fontanarrosa in where Inodoro Pereyra (one of his main characters) asks for  freedom for the dolphins.

January 11th was the day to unfold the Free Dolphins' Flag (with the help of the assistants of the 5th Edition of the Orcas's week) placing one after the other the 915 pieces of this flag that we have received so far, being the largest flag for the dolphins´ freedom in South América. Currently we have 977 patches.

It was a very thrilling moment, where many participated in the distance but with their flags joined with many others, each one sended to us from their own provinces and countries, with strong messages against the capture and captivity of orcas and another dolphins. We knew that some of them are not anymore around us, then we decided at the end of the show of the great flag (which surpassed the 1.000 mt level -3048 ft- of lenght, because some of them were longer than the one-metre-long asked) that each and every part of it had to be turned upside making possible that also them could see their dream come true.

At the beginning of the unfolding of the flag, that took place at the Monument to the welsh woman, we have counted  with the presence of the city's Major, Dr.  Julio César Aristarain, who offered a patch in the name of the municipality.

Besides all the city's and surrounding's media which made a wide covering of the event, newspaper "La Nación" offered an important review on its website with recorded interviews, video and a photo gallery about the week of the orcas.

Also we have received supporting messages from prestigious marine mammal specialists around the world. Those messages were read to the audience; such as those from Naomi Rose, scientist of the Humane Society of the USA (HSUS) specialized in wild marine mammals and Habitat's protection of Washington's state; Cathy Williamson, Captivity Campaigner WDCS; Dr. Bernd Würsig, Professor and Director of the Marine Biology Department for the Marine Life Science Institute of Texas; The Explorer's Club, New York and Argentinian Chapters, among others.
