THE WEEK OF THE ORCAS, 5th EDITION

From January 8th to 14th took place the fifth edition of the Orcas' week. This event which  is now a classic when about orcas we are talking, included this time a variation.

This year we have carried out 4 days of lectures and three days of stranded cetacean's rescue courses. By this way we could train an important number of people with the different rescueing techniques that must have to be carried out in front of a stranded dolphin or a great whale in order to achieve its reintegration to nature. Specially considerating that year through year there are more and more strandings happening on a global scale and the needing, therefore, of rescuers.

This year within the conference's cycle  we have counted with the lectures of:

Cethus Foundation's president Miguel Iñiguez speaking about the problems that orcas face globally

Miguel Iñiguez: President for the Cethus Foundation, who "trapped" the audience with his clear explanations about the problems that orcas face around the world.

Juan Carlos López and  Prefecto José Luis Osa during their lecture about the rescue of stranded cetaceans.

Prefecto José Luis Osa, with whom we have organized the 1st Cetacean Rescueing Corps of the Prefectura Naval Argentina (The argentine Coast Guard) with base in Puerto Madryn, who explained the whereabouts of that important work taken by Prefectura, that was carried out with a 100% of effectiveness in each rescue operation where they entered in action.

Juan C. López (right), Miguel Iñiguez and the foundation's representative in the city of Rosario Mr. Sergio Rinaldi, who gave a lecture about his important cultural activity in that city.

Sergio Rinaldi, specialized journalist in enviromental issues, in charge of the Fundación Orca's chapter at the city of Rosario (province of Santa Fe, Argentina), who gave a lively explanation about his work in that city, either in the foundation as for his very important cultural series and radio programmes, raising awareness about the enviromental troubles and the orcas.

And Juan Carlos López: told about the "ORCA's SOCIETY", their behaviour and about what can we make in order to help them for their survival.
